RB Landscapes Gears Up for Garden DesignFest 2010

Acclaimed Melbourne-based landscape design and construction business, RB Landscapes, is already making plans for their involvement in the 2010 Garden DesignFest. Held over one busy weekend on 13th – 14th November 2010, this unique bi-annual garden expo offers the general public the chance to view select garden landscapes and meet the designer’s behind them.

The Garden DesignFest is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Kew aimed at raising much needed funds for specific charities and also to encourage creative, innovative and responsible gardening in our Australian gardens. The public can purchase tickets to enter each or all of the open gardens available, experience each garden up close, meet the owners and ask questions of the people that created them.

RB Landscapes’ foray into their first DesignFest experience in 2008 is something that business owner Richard Bellemo will not soon forget.

“We had listed our Knutsford Street project in Balwyn and were expecting a reasonable public turnout after just winning the LIAV award only a few weeks before - but the shear scale of numbers we had through our garden was just staggering,” said Richard Bellemo.

“The busy rotary representative at the front gate sold 508 tickets on the Saturday and more than 550 tickets on the Sunday. By the end of the first day I had already lost my voice and the owners of the property were stunned at how much public interest their new garden had created.”

RB Landscapes has listed their boldest garden design yet for the 2010 DesignFest. Nestled in a secluded Deepdene enclave, this recently completed garden project features some of RB Landscapes’ most challenging design and construction initiatives including a 50 square outdoor pavilion complete with pizza oven and full kitchen facilities plus a natural rock waterfall, bordered by 10m long living walls, flowing into a broad scale natural pond. Huge timber arbours and extensive hardwood decking frames the spa and entertaining area while pockets of bluestone walls and steppers bring attention to the bocce pit and other unique garden features.

“To say this garden is a feast for the eyes is an understatement, said Richard Bellemo”

“We pulled out all the stops to give our client a complete garden entertainment solution that is rolled out across an extensive suburban property with mature trees and a stunning mud brick house. Our brief was to create a separate outdoor entertaining area that complimented existing house and garden elements. The clients were amazed at the result…..delivered just in time for Christmas 2009”.
